Welcome to Darrington CE Primary School Nursery.

Here at Darrington CE Primary School we provide excellent pre-school education and care in our Foundation Unit ‘Team Tiger’.  Our Nursery began operating in September 2014 and in June of the same year was graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted.  Our stimulating indoor and outdoor environment allows children to learn through self-initiated exploratory play together with carefully planned activities which are tailored towards individual children’s needs and interests.  Qualified teachers deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in a fun, exciting manner where children are nurtured and supported throughout their learning journey.

Our 26 place Nursery offers morning or afternoon sessions to suit your personal requirements and a ‘wraparound’ facility is accessible where additional sessions can be booked at a supplementary fee.  These can be booked termly in advance, or as and when needed.  Morning and afternoon sessions run term time only, 8:50am – 11:55am, and 12:30pm – 3:30pm and children are welcome to join us the term after they turn 3 years old, where they will receive 15 hours of free government funded provision.  Wraparound care is provided at £3.50 per hour; sessions can be topped up to full day care for £12.25 per day and children will be required to bring a packed lunch.  Wraparound care is subject to availability, please speak to Mrs. Murray who will be happy to discuss your personal requirements.

A typical session in Nursery begins with free choice play, followed by registration.  Both morning and afternoon sessions include a 20 minute phonics session where ‘Phase 1 Letters and Sounds’ is delivered and a 15 minute ‘Little Big Maths’ interactive session which contains lots of movement, singing and dancing!  A healthy snack is provided (usually a piece of fruit or vegetable) free of charge, as is a drink of milk.  We operate a ‘free flow’ environment where children can choose to play indoors or outside as they wish whatever the weather!  Towards the end of the session children enjoy participating in show and tell and listening to a story before being collected.

If you would like to arrange a visit please telephone the school office on 01977 232320, we warmly encourage you and your child to come and spend time with us to see how our sessions are run.   If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to contact us, we look forward to welcoming you to our Nursery soon!
