Darrington Collective Worship Committee (DCWC)
DCWC is made up of children from all 4 classes at Darrington CE Primary School, ranging from the ages of five to eleven years of age. It is led by our Foundation Governor, Mrs Fletcher.
The committee works hard to promote Christian values within the school and local community and to foster links between our school, our church and the community. They meet together once every half term to plan and deliver Collective Worship in school and in church.
The group help to plan and deliver the school's Harvest, Christmas and Easter services, which take place in Darrington Church. Many of the DCWC members also take part in a short Nativity play during the December ‘Family Service’ in church as well as participating in other Family Services throughout the year.
The Darrington Collective Worship committee is also taking the lead on our link with Buhemba Primary School in Mara, Tanzania. Each child on the committee wrote a page about themselves, which was included in a ‘Book of Friendship’, which was produced by pupils, staff and Governors of the school and sent to our friends in Buhemba Primary School.
The collection from the school's Christmas service, together with a collection from Darrington Church, raised £107, which was sent to Buhemba primary school in February. The children have seen a video of the presentation of our book and gifts to the Buhemba Primary School, which was taken by the Rev Gill Johnson and friends when they visited Tanzania in February. In return our friends in Tanzania sent us a model Zebra which they made for us. This now takes pride of place at our DCWC meetings and is a focal point for our prayers at the start of each session.
DCWC are looking forward to hearing more news from Tanzania as we strengthen our link in the future. We ask that you keep the children of our link school in your thoughts and prayers.
