Remembrance day
Visit from the Chelsea Pensioners
Today was a very proud day for Darrington School as we were visited by 6 Chelsea Pensioners who joined us for our Remembrance celebrations.
The Chelsea Pensioners visited each class to talk about their experiences as soldiers. One of the gentlemen, Chris Melia (aged 92) even fought in World War II! All of the children loved hearing their stories and experiences and enjoyed a very memorable morning.
Team Eagle also performed the poem 'Remembrance Sunday' by Maria Cassee and shared some of their own poems before we observed the 2 minute silence.
We are hopeful that some images of the morning might feature in the Pontefract and Castleford Express!
