Parents: Newsletters

Updated - 19th March at 3.10pm - We are currently waiting for the government to publish more information on the categories which will be defined as Key Workers, but it would help us in the meantime if you could let us know if you think your child may fall into one of these categories:

• NHS
• Police
• Delivery drivers

We would like to reiterate that we have not had the categories confirmed yet and as such, the categories above are suggested only.

Please contact the school office via email admin@darringtonschool.org.uk  and provide information of your child’s name, class, and your occupation you are currently working in. We will be in touch again as soon as we are sure who this does apply to.

Our current understanding is that if you have one key worker at home and someone who does not fall under the key worker category, then your child should remain at home with the non key worker/family member. We will confirm this when we are updated. Thank you.

Updated - 19th March at 9.42am.  Following the Government announcement made last night regarding school closures, we are expecting further guidance shortly.  We are working with this guidance and kindly ask for your understanding during this time.  We will contact parents again as soon as we are able to with further information.

The most recent guidance states:

• if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started
• if you live with others and you or another member of the household have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill. It is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
• for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14-day isolation period.

The symptoms are:

• A high temperature (37.8 degrees and above)
• A new, continuous cough

If your child is required to be in self isolation for 14 days, we will record this as an authorised absence specific to the current situation in line with guidance.
